gurujagat kaur
I first came across Kundalini Yoga in 1975 in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. I shared the yogic lifestyle in the European Mother-Ashram for eleven years, studying and practicing the vast teachings of Yogi Bhajan. Kundalini Yoga has been an essential resource in my life for the past 30 years.
Giving birth to four children has enabled me to put into practice the ancient yet modern ayurvedic maternity tradition. For 25 years I have been accompanying women, couples and families on this beautiful path to becoming parents. Courses in Human Relations, NLP, Non-Violent Communication and Family and Marital Counseling enhance my yogic background as a holistic trainer. Today, I wish to share this treasure of knowledge and experiences with you.

Train to become a Pregnancy Yoga Teacher and a Yoga Doula
We offer you a comprehensive, theoretical and practical non-medical training from conception to weaning.
This multi-disciplinary course is based on the unique teachings of Yogi Bhajan, master of Kundalini Yoga and Humanology. It will cover “sacred birth” from the yogic and ayurvedic traditions to the contemporary work of F. Leboyer and M. Odent around natural birthing.
Aim of the course
In our hyper medicalized society we aim to:
- Facilitate an intimate (re)connection of the future mother with her own body, her feelings, her choices, her freedom and empowerment concerning childbirth and motherhood
- Accompany the man in the process of becoming a present and conscious partner and father
- Respect the needs of the newborn baby
- Create a local support network that will inform, support and accompany the future parents towards a harmonious and respected birth and post partum period
The Course is open to all who ...
- Wish to study pre and post natal yoga and the ayurvedic lifestyle in depth, in order to become a pregnancy yoga teacher, to create a mother support group or for personal growth
- Wish to become a “Sevadar” – the yogic term for Doula – the support person for mother and family during the pre and/or postnatal period
- Pregnant women with or without their partner are welcome. Contact us for special arrangements
The Themes
Development of the different phases of pregnancy, birth and post partum. Physiological, psycho-emotional and spiritual needs of the Mother:
- From conception to the celebration of the 120th day
- Care and comfort of the pregnant woman: the postures (asanas), breath, nutrition, relaxation, massage, ayurvedic life style
- Reflexive and active listening, visualization, communication with the inner being, meditations and songs to elevate and connect
- Evolution and adjustments in the couple’s relationship
- Roles of the man-husband-father
- The birth: preparation of the birth plan, phases and processes of birth
- The post partum period: the “40 days”, the mothers needs, welcoming the newborn baby, the mother-baby bond, the father’s place
- Breastfeeding support. Alternatives and complements to mother’s milk, first steps towards a healthy balanced diet, weaning
- Shantala baby and mother massage
- Woman friendly plants and natural home remedies
- Place and role of the postnatal Doula
- Creating a local postnatal network
- Professional ethics, framework and limits
We work in sub-groups and with an interactive participative dynamic
Yogi Bhajan
Arrived in USA in the beginning of 1969, what he saw was a generation of young people using drugs in search of higher consciousness. He offered them an alternative to the drug culture. He knew Kundalini Yoga would give seekers a real experience of God within, and help heal their mental and emotional problems, as well as the physical bodies that had been damaged by the use of drugs.
He taught the Happy, Healthy, Holy way of life for householders, the common man and woman who have families, earn a living and have relationships.
Reminding us that men and women are equal but profoundly different, Yogi Ji brought to the modern women a new sense of dignity, clarity and mission. Being the Adi Shakti which means Primal Creative Power, the mother is the first teacher; therefore her state of consciences has a great impact on the future generation.
Before leaving his physical envelope, in 2005, Yogi Ji left a great gift to humanity: the teachings for a spiritual childbirth.
Woman has been given a special privilege by God, therefore she has a special responsibility: You give a part of your soul to get a soul.
The role of the mother is when the child is in the womb. When the child has his own identity, your role of mother is over.
Yogi Bhajan, Women summer Camp, New Mexico, 1989, pg. 29-30
